Juvederm™, Restylane® Hyaluronic Acid Fillers (Dermal Fillers)
Patients who have issues with fine and deep facial lines or nasolabial folds (folds running from the sides of the bottom of the nose to the outer corners of the mouth) get dermal fillers to smooth the appearance of wrinkles, soften facial folds, restore fullness and reverse the signs of aging.
Dr. Liu offers Restylane® and varying strengths of Juvederm™. The greatest differences between these injectable fillers are the amount of volume they will provide in a specific area. Each of these fillers have a different amount of hyaluronic acid in composition and size. Dr. Liu will determine which filler will be best to treating finer lines, mild to moderate lines and deeper folds. The hyaluronic acid fillers have the capability of lasting six months or longer.
Hyaluronic acids are presently being used to reduce or eliminate facial lines and folds, enhance lips and replace soft-tissue volume loss. Hyaluronic acid, is a naturally occurring, biodegradable complex sugar found in the human body and in all living animals. Among other things, hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin and adds volume, contributing to the overall appearance of the skin. These fillers are also being used for facial sculpting, including softening of the jowl line and cheek area. Hyaluronic acid when injected into the skin brings back the natural beauty that has been lost due to aging. Younger skin naturally has a larger amount of hyaluronic acid providing firmness to the skin. As we age, we loose the ability to produce hyaluronic acid and the skin becomes drier, thinner, and less able to restore itself. The results will make a difference and help you feel young and vibrant again.
Dermal fillers are injected below the skin using a fine needle. They can be uncomfortable for some people not only due to the needle sticks but the fillers can sting while being injected. Dr. Liu takes every step possible to assure the comfort of our patients. This takes extra time for the patient and us, but our clients appreciate it. These comfort measures can include using numbing creams, mechanical chillers or nerve blocks.
Prior to being treated, you should take some precautions. Avoid using aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort, or Vitamin E supplements as they may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Be sure to let our medical staff know prior to your appointment if you have experienced cold sores in the past so we can help prevent any recurrence. Whenever facial injections are done, some clients may experience minor swelling, tenderness or bruising. If you are required to take aspirin for a medical reason, talk to your doctor before stopping it. Some people believe that Arnica Pills are helpful in minimizing bruising.
