Older Asian patient who had eyelid surgery elsewhere that damaged her right upper eyelid causing it to droop (ptosis). She also had over aggressive removal of fat that caused her to look "hollowed" or "skeletonized". This over aggressive removal of fat also causes multiple eyelid folds to occur (as you can see). |
This is the patient 1 month after surgery. She had repair of her previously damaged right upper eyelid muscle to return it back to normal height as well as fat taken from her lower eyelids and replaced to her upper eyelids to return volume. Although still swollen (typically goes away by 2-3 months), the patient's eyelids are now symmetric, equal height, and her restored volume has gotten rid of her multiple folds. |

Young Asian female who desired creation of an eyelid fold (Asian blepharoplasty). Because of her age and amount of excess skin, "suture technique" would not have given her a lasting, satisfactory result. Instead, an "open incison technique" with anchoring stitches was performed. |
This is a post-op month 1 photo. Although still swollen (typically can take 3-6 months to completely resolve), the patient already has a nice fold created that she specified (tapered to her nose and parallel to her outer eye). Eyelid surgery can be tailored or customized to a certain look a patient desires. |

Middle age Asian patient who had larger natural eyelid crease but desired the crease to be slightly smaller as well as correcting the overhanging droopy skin on the lateral aspect of her eyes. |
Post-op month #1. A slightly lower eyelid crease was achieved as well as a natural transition from the inner most aspect of the eyelid crease to the lateral most aspect of the eyelid crease, giving the patient a more Asian eye appearance as opposed to a more Westernized appearance. |

Older asian woman without natural eyelid crease complaining about saggy eyelid skin both upper and lower. |
Post-op day #5. Already the eyelid crease has formed naturally. Although there clearly is still some swelling and bruising, already the eyes look much more awake yet still remain looking naturally Asian. It was determined that no surgery was needed for the lower eyelid. A simple and safe laser for Asian skin was used to tighten the lower eyelid skin without surgery. The small little black dots are residual older skin being slowly sloughed off which will be completed in a few days. |
